Farrand Research is deeply saddened to announce the passing of the company's Founder, Tom Farrand.

March 22, 1949 - July 14, 2013

Thomas Walter Farrand passed away at his home in Long Beach, CA on Sunday, July 14, 2013 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 64.

He is survived by his son, Fausto Martinez of Las Vegas, Nevada and five siblings, Robert W. Farrand, Nancy Miller, Elizabeth Flanagan, Frederick J. Farrand and John M. Farrand. He had 19 nephews and nieces as well as 32 grand nieces and nephews.

Born in Watertown, New York, Tom was a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY and the University of Denver. He began his career as a Navy aviator and upon completing active duty service, remained in the Navy Reserve until he retired in 2006 at the rank of Captain.

His marketing research career spanned over 30 years including time on the client side with Dial Corporation, Hunt-Wesson Foods and later as the International Market Research Manager for KFC. From 1986 to 1991, Tom served as president of a research supplier in Burbank, CA. In April 1991, he founded Farrand Research Corporation, a full-service marketing research firm located in Long Beach, CA.

Tom strived earnestly to selflessly serve those around him. And in that spirit, Tom guided Farrand Research with the simple goal of making clients' jobs easier. As we move forward we will strive earnestly to live up to that guiding principal set forth by our beloved colleague, mentor, and friend.
